With the Game of Thrones season five premiere only two weeks away, it looks like Arya Stark is now set to make a brief escape from her saga. BBC just announced that Maisie Williams will star in the upcoming season of Doctor Who. The network tweeted the news this morning:

Showrunner Steven Moffat said in an official statement that he's thrilled to have Williams on set, and, though he can't say what role she'll play, her character "will challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways." Williams, for her part, stated that she's "excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town."

Doctor Who's most recent season gave fans a brand new Doctor in Peter Capaldi, while also taking the series in darker, more ambitious directions. Critical responses to the season were generally positive, despite a few narrative missteps here and there. Filming for the next season started in January, and fans can expect to see more of the Doctor and Clara's adventures later this year.
